Hello, 2015! I Have Big Plans for You.

Happy New Year, everyone! I brought in 2015 by reading and watching college football before grumpily going to bed at 12:02 a.m.

I bet you're a little jealous that your NYE wasn't as cool as mine. Right?!

As I look forward to what 2015 has in store for me, I'm excited about the possibilities. 2013 was a rough year for so many reasons (tough pregnancy, my unexpected hospitalization, a trip to the NICU for my newborn, a house flood, the death of my grandfather), and 2014 felt like a transition year (we got a new house, I refocused my blog, I started traveling more regularly again).

All of this can only mean that 2015 is going to be PHENOMENAL.

So, without further ado, here are a few things I've got swirling around in my little ol' head for the big '15.

Travel
Clockwise from top left:
New Orleans {via} // Charlotte, North Carolina {via}
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg {via} // Falmouth, Jamaica {via}
January/ February: trip to Charlotte, North Carolina
February/ March: trip to St. Augustine (with possible trips to Jacksonville, Florida, and/or St. Simons Island, Georgia)
March/April: literary tour of New Orleans, Louisiana
May/June: Mexico, Jamaica, Grand Caymans, and Haiti. My husband and I will be celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary in May, and I'll get to visit several countries I've never been to previously.
June/July: annual family beach week on Edisto Island, South Carolina
July/August: possible weekend trip to the North Carolina mountains
October: Luxembourg, Austria, Germany, and France. I'm headed to Europe with my mom and sister! I've been to France once, but we're heading to a few different parts--and the other three countries will be new to me.
November: possible trip for leaf viewing in Tennessee, Virginia, or Vermont

I still have a few months where I don't have anything planned, and I may use these to do some exploring around Charleston. Plus, who knows what else I'll get into between now and the end of December?!

Blog Stuff

  • Continue to grow my Facebook and Twitter accounts. In 2014, I finally realized that social media was the way to really interact with my readers and with other people in the blogging world. (Yeah, I know. I was only a little behind on this matter.) While I have accounts on other social media channels, I'm trying to build each one slowly, so as not to overwhelm myself.
  • Double my monthly page views from 2014. I've been blogging for about 4 years, but I only got serious about it at the beginning of last year. And it was only in the last quarter of 2014 that I began networking more with my fellow bloggers, something that is essential to growing my blog. 2015 will be, for my blog, all about growth: more travel, more page views, more blog visitors, more bloggy friendships!
  • Continue to find new and exciting stories to share from the U.S. Southeast and beyond. My love of all things artsy, cultural, literary, kooky, and off-the-beaten-path continues to grow, and I hope to bring you even more stories from my nerdy/fun/funny brand of travel blogging!
  • Tie in more literature and history into the places I visit. I'm a big fan of reading about an area's past, but I'd like to talk about that more on the blog. I'm also toying with the idea of doing book round-ups based on the places I'm visiting (kind of like what I did with my wildly popular "10 Great Books to Read if You Love London" post): all of this knowledge helps to make my travel experience (and hopefully, your blog reading experience) even richer.
  • Learn a little more every day. I've been at the blogging thing pretty much daily since January 2014, but I am continually amazed at all of the things I don't know about travel, blogging, and travel blogging. Onward and upward!
If you can't tell, I'm pumped about the coming months, and I'm excited to have you along with me for the ride. What are you excited about for 2015? Do you have any fun travel plans yet?
