Odds + (Week) Ends: A Weekly Travel Round-up, Vol. 12 | CosmosMariners.com

It's Monday again, fellow Mariners...and Daylight Savings Time on top of it. While this makes for the worst combination known to man when it comes to getting motivated this morning, I hope that you had an excellent weekend to make up for the decided lack of sunshine in today's A.M. (It is Pi Day, if that helps perk you up!)

I had a quick coastal escape this past weekend with my mom, sister, and toddler. It was for my sister's bachelorette weekend, and since neither she nor it (her glorious matron of honor) are super party people, we decided to head down to Seabrook Island, South Carolina, for a few days of rest, relaxation, bike riding, and rom com watching.

So, in the interest of keeping things moving along this morning, let's see what I found this past week 'round the internet. Shall we?

Mummified sailor found aboard ghost ship // Discovery News
File this away in the "creepy" category: a boat was discovered drifting in the Pacific Ocean near the Philippines with a mummified man aboard. Officials aren't sure how long the boat had been wandering the ocean, but speculate that it could've been years. (Be warned for those who are squeamish: semi-gross picture of the mummified man when you click through.)

NASA Top Chef Competition // Space.com
As an ode to my recent trip to Florida's Space Coast, I couldn't help including this fun article. Teams of high schoolers were hosted by NASA's Langley Research Center in Virginia to create a vegetarian meal that could be frozen and reheated in zero gravity. The winners, who will be chosen at the final later this year in Houston, will have their meal shipped to the International Space Station.

Rooftop Tour // Takvandring.com
This tour, held in Stockholm, definitely wins for most creative way to see a city. Participants are taken onto the roofs of the city (with harnesses on, of course) for a thrilling experience. The tour costs 595 kronor (or about $70 US).

Tell me: who else hates Daylight Savings Time as much as I do? How was your weekend?
